Our Mission
The mission of Solmax Ltd. is to provide joy and quality to all those who love nature, gardening, and take pleasure in the beauty of their plants. Our goal is to offer potting soil that we ourselves would happily plant our own plants in. We believe and know that in our products, flowers thrive wonderfully – which is why we chose the slogan: "Sweet life for your plants."
Our Values
With every bag of potting soil that rolls off our production line, we aim to bring a little joy to our customers. It is especially important to us that every customer is satisfied, as we know that without satisfied customers, we cannot build long-term success. That’s why we work with such dedication, ensuring that our customers can reach us anytime, whether it's for advice, orders, or follow-ups. We don’t believe in long waits: we respond to a quote request within half an hour at most, and always ensure that orders arrive accurately and quickly.
Why Are We Special?
What makes our products unique is the exceptional quality of the peat they contain, which is unrivaled in Europe. Due to its high organic matter and humic acid content, this natural ingredient excellently supports plant growth. As a family business, we always focus on ensuring that every bag we produce is of consistent quality, which is guaranteed by our modern technology with 5% precision. Additionally, our flexibility sets us apart: we deliver even a pallet order with just a 3-4 day lead time.
Sustainability
We are committed to sustainability, which is why we use one of Europe's the fastest, energy-efficient packaging machine developed in-house. Our own solar panel system helps us reduce our ecological footprint while producing our products with the least possible energy. We develop our packaging materials to be as thin as possible while remaining durable, reducing waste production. Thanks to our innovative technology, we serve our customers quickly and cost-effectively while responsibly protecting the environment. Our technological advantage lies in owning our own machinery, and we are proud that our self-developed packaging machine won the Hungarian Industrial Target Machine Competition in 2023.
Our Story
The story of Solmax Ltd. began in the 1970s, when our father, István Borda, worked as a technical manager in a peat mine in Zalaszentmihály. His experience and dedication led him to buy his own land in the region’s excellent peat deposits. Over the years, through family collaboration and hard work, we became who we are today.
- 2005 – The Peat Mine Begins
Everything started with an advertising bag, a set of keys, and a few old machines. We quickly grew fond of the beautiful environment and the old but useful machinery.
- 2006 – 2010 The Mine Operates
We upgraded our old machinery with modern technology, which continues to operate reliably to this day and can handle any terrain. We gained extensive experience in cultivating marshy areas while our high-quality raw material attracted more and more satisfied customers. The planning for a modern potting soil mixing and packaging plant began.
- 2011 – The Potting Soil Manufacturing Plant is Completed
Norbert successfully applied for the construction of a modern plant and production line. In 2015, our first potting soil product was born: Dolce Vital and Sunin general potting soil. The beginning was not easy: we started with few products and limited resources, but our perseverance and customer-focused approach paid off.
Family Collaboration
Our company is a true family business. Our team has grown over the years, but our family-like atmosphere and commitment to our customers have remained unchanged.
